There’s an important update for Gauteng residents regarding your water supply. Rand Water, the province’s water utility company, will be conducting a critical maintenance project on their infrastructure. This proactive effort is scheduled to take place from June 22nd to July 29th, 2024, spanning 37 days.

While this is good news for the long-term health of Gauteng’s water system, it does mean residents can expect water outages throughout the maintenance period. The outages will follow a set schedule, with different areas experiencing disruptions at different times.

Rand Water has assured residents that they’ve taken steps to minimise inconvenience. They’ve notified all affected municipalities at least 21 days in advance, allowing them to develop contingency plans. Residents can expect their municipalities to communicate details about the outages, including specific timing and any planned water rationing.

In the meantime, Rand Water recommends that residents store water ahead of time to prepare for disruptions in their area. They will also be providing updates throughout the maintenance period to keep everyone informed.
