POPIA

Water Experts, the water treatment shop of Andy Plumbers, Fairland, Randburg, is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This notice says how we process personal information. The privacy policy says the same in plain words.

1. Information officer

2. What we process

Names, email addresses, phone numbers and delivery addresses; order and payment references; the contents of enquiries, quotes and reviews; account sign-in details; and page visits, counted without a cookie or a personal identifier.

3. Why, and on what basis

  • To conclude and perform the contract when you order: packing, couriering, payment, order emails and support (section 11(1)(b)).
  • To answer an enquiry you sent us (section 11(1)(a), your consent, which you may withdraw).
  • To keep the records the tax and consumer laws require (section 11(1)(c)).
  • To send one reminder about an order you started at checkout and did not finish, to the address you typed there (section 11(1)(f); one email, ever, per address).

We do not process special personal information, we do not knowingly process children's information, and we do not use your information for direct marketing you did not ask for.

4. Who receives it

Operators acting on our instructions: JKJ Express (delivery), PayFast (payment), Google Cloud and Firebase (hosting and storage), Resend (email). Andy Plumbers, when an installation, water test or borehole enquiry is passed to the team. Nobody else, unless the law requires it.

5. Transfers outside South Africa

The site and its data are hosted by Google Cloud in the European Union, and emails are sent through Resend. Both are bound by laws and contracts that protect the information to a standard comparable to POPIA (section 72).

6. Security and retention

The site runs over HTTPS only; order data is held on Google Cloud with access limited to the people who process orders; card details never reach us. Orders are kept for at least five years as the tax laws require. Enquiries and accounts are kept until you ask us to delete them. Visit counts are kept for 400 days.

7. Your rights

You may ask whether we hold personal information about you and what it is, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, and withdraw consent. Email martin@waterexperts.co.za; we respond within a week, and in any case within the time the Act allows. You may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
