Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis is the only stage that takes out what is dissolved in water: salts, heavy metals, nitrates, fluoride, microplastics, bacteria and viruses, down to 0.0001 micron. Ours are the 100 GPD systems we fit in Randburg homes, with the re-mineraliser built in, so what comes out tastes like water and not like a laboratory.

What a reverse osmosis purifier costs, to buy and to run.
The AquaShield six-stage purifier is R2 910. The Turbo, with a booster pump for low pressure and tank supplies, is R3 680. Both ship with the 12 litre tank, the brushed chrome tap, every fitting and the re-mineraliser already in line, and economy courier is free from R1 500.
Running it: the three pre-filters every six months as the pre-filter kit at R120, the post-carbon and the re-mineraliser once a year, and the full service kit with the membrane every two to three years, from R751. A year on municipal water comes to about R659 in cartridges.
Fitted by Andy Plumbers in Johannesburg, an under-counter purifier runs R5 000 to R8 000, unit included, depending on the pipework and where you are; a photo of the sink on WhatsApp gets the exact figure. Most people fit it themselves in about an hour with the guide in the box.
