When to buy this kit and when to buy the small one
The three pre-filters change every six months, the post-carbon and re-mineraliser every year, the membrane every two to three years. Most years, the pre-filter kit twice plus the two inline stages once is the right shopping list. The year the membrane is due, or the year you inherit a system with no service history, buy this kit and start the clock again.
The membrane in the box
The kit carries a 75 GPD membrane: 284 litres a day at 4 bar, the size most under-sink systems in South Africa were sold with, and several times what a household drinks. In an AquaShield, which ships with a 100 GPD membrane, it fits the same 1812 housing and refills the 12 litre tank in about an hour instead of forty minutes. The 75 GPD is the replacement membrane we stock; the 100 GPD is the one the complete AquaShield ships with, and at the tap the difference does not show.
Fitting, twenty minutes
The three housings as for the pre-filter kit. The membrane: unscrew the long horizontal housing, pull the old element with pliers, push the new one in O-ring end first. The two inline stages: push the tubes out, screw the new elbows in with the arrows pointing to the tap, push the tubes back. Run the first two tanks to the drain to flush the membrane preservative.
