Privacy policy

This page says what Water Experts collects when you use waterexperts.co.za, what it is used for, who sees it and how long it is kept. It is short, because we collect little.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, email address, phone number and delivery address, what you bought and what you paid. They stay on your order.
  • When you pay: PayFast takes the payment on its own pages. We never see your card number. PayFast tells us the payment reference, the amount and that it was paid.
  • When you create an account: your email address, or the name and email address on your Google account if you sign in with Google, so you can see your orders and tracking.
  • When you send a form or a review: what you typed, with your name and contact details.
  • When you browse: the page you read, the page you came from, the kind of device and the time, counted by our own analytics without a cookie and without an identifier that follows you. If Google Analytics is switched on, Google's cookie applies; its policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

What it is used for

  • Packing and couriering your order, and emailing you when it is paid, booked with the courier and on its way.
  • Answering your questions and quotes on WhatsApp, by phone or by email.
  • One reminder email if you typed your email address at checkout and did not finish the order. One, ever, per address.
  • Counting visits and orders so we know which pages work.

We do not sell your information, we do not send newsletters you did not ask for, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Who sees it

  • The courier, JKJ Express or The Courier Guy depending on the order, gets your name, address and phone number to deliver the parcel.
  • PayFast processes the payment under its own privacy policy.
  • Google Cloud (Firebase) hosts the site and stores the orders, in the European Union.
  • Resend sends our emails.
  • Google Customer Reviews, only if you tick yes when it asks after you pay: Google gets your email address, the order number and the expected delivery date, and emails you one short survey about the shop after delivery, under Google's privacy policy.
  • Andy Plumbers, our main company, when you book an installation, a water test or borehole work.

How long we keep it

Orders and the emails about them are kept for at least five years, as the tax laws require of a business. Enquiries and account details are kept until you ask us to delete them. Visit counts are kept for 400 days.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted where the law does not require us to keep it. Email martin@waterexperts.co.za and we answer within a week. The POPIA notice sets out the same rights in the words of the Act.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS only. Order data is stored on Google Cloud with access limited to the people who pack and send orders. Payment details never touch our servers.
