The AquaGuard three-stage unit and the 55 watt stainless steel UV steriliser, sold together with the two 1 inch to 3/4 inch adaptors that join them, which nobody else puts in the box. Sediment and chlorine out first, then bacteria, viruses and cysts stopped by light. The treatment train for a household on its own water source.
Why the order matters
UV only works on water it can see through. The AquaGuard's three stages take the water down to 1 micron, clear enough for the lamp to reach every organism in it. Filter, then sterilise: the unit and the steriliser are sized to each other at 2 720 litres an hour.
What the combo saves
R295 against the two bought separately, one delivery instead of two, and the part every other shop admits is "not included": the adaptors between the unit's 1 inch ports and the steriliser's 3/4 inch ports, with the thread tape to fit them.
Fitting
The AquaGuard at the point of entry, the UV after it, horizontal below the frame or vertical beside it, with a metre clear at the lamp end to withdraw the sleeve. A plug point within 1.5 m for the ballast, through a surge protector, in a dry spot. A bypass valve around the pair means a cartridge or lamp change does not mean a dry house.
Test first
Bacteria are what UV solves. Iron, manganese, hardness and salts are chemistry, and they need a media vessel ahead of this pair. A SANS 241 laboratory test tells you which you have before you spend; ask us and we arrange it.
