Siliphos Balls, 1 kg
Stops scale and rust without softening. A gram or two per cubic metre.
Glassy polyphosphate spheres that dissolve at 2 to 3 grams per cubic metre of water and lay a molecular film on the inside of pipes, geysers and appliances. Scale stops forming, existing scale loosens over months, and rust stops. Not a softener: the minerals stay, so the water still tastes right. One kilogram refills a 20 inch shell a quarter at a time.
Vessel, valve and media together: the complete kitsHow much and how long
A household on 0.1 to 0.2 cubic metres an hour uses about 1 kg every three to six months. Fill the shell to two-thirds and top it up when a third has gone. The balls get smaller and cloudier as they dissolve; that is them working.
Where it goes
In the 20 inch refillable shell in any Big Blue housing, after the sediment stage, or in a dedicated siliphos dosing pot on the geyser feed. Cold water only: above 60 °C the film breaks down, which is why it goes before the geyser, not after it.
Drinking it
Food-grade polyphosphate at under 5 mg/L, the same treatment municipalities use in their own mains. It does not soften and does not add sodium.
