A year of AquaGuard services, in one box.
Two of the three-stage sets the AquaGuard runs on: two 5 micron sediment, two carbon block and two 1 micron sediment cartridges, 20 by 4.5 inch. One set goes in now, the other waits on the shelf for the six-month change, so the second service happens on the day it is due instead of the day the shower slows.
Why two sets
The first service always happens: the unit is new and the date is in the diary. The second is the one that slips, because nothing looks wrong until the pressure drops and the chlorine smell is back in the shower. With the second set already on the shelf there is nothing to order and nothing to wait for. On borehole or tank water, where the interval is three to six months, both sets go into one year.
Three stages, in this order
Housing one, 5 micron sediment. Rust, sand, mud and the visible load.
Housing two, carbon block. Chlorine and the organic compounds behind taste and smell, with its own 5 micron pass.
Housing three, 1 micron sediment. The fine particles the first two let through, and the polish a UV steriliser needs.
Fitting, fifteen minutes a set
Close the isolation valve, open a tap, press the red buttons on the caps, unscrew the bowls with the spanner. Cartridges in the order above, check the O-rings, hand-tighten, open the valve slowly and bleed the air. Ten minutes of grey water is carbon fines washing out.
