Carbon Filter Kit, 75 L
Vessel, valve and two bags of coconut carbon. Chlorine, taste and smell, by the cubic metre.
A whole-house carbon stage in one order: the 75 litre FRP vessel with its riser and distributors, a Runxin backwash valve (manual or automatic), and two 25 kg bags of coconut-shell activated carbon. For chlorine, chloramine traces, pesticides and the organic compounds behind taste and smell, ahead of a softener or a UV.

Carbon adsorbs what sediment filters cannot see: chlorine and its by-products, solvents, pesticides and the organic compounds that give water a taste and a smell. In a vessel rather than a cartridge it has the contact time to do it at household flow, and a backwash valve to keep the bed loose.
Contact time
Carbon works by time, not by flow. Three minutes is the minimum, which means this bed treats about 1.5 cubic metres an hour properly. Run it after a sediment stage, and if the house draws more than that, run two.
Running it
Rinse the fresh carbon in the vessel until the backwash runs clear before the first service. Backwash weekly. Test the outlet for chlorine monthly with a pool strip and change the carbon the month it shows, usually after one to three years.
