How often should it backwash?

AFM and carbon every 3 to 7 days on a borehole, weekly on municipal water; calcite every 1 to 2 weeks. Watch the gauges for the first month and set it to the pressure rise, not the calendar.

What if the power fails at backwash time?

It skips the cycle and keeps the settings for three days. A backwash a day late does no harm.

The automatic valve for a media filter: 4 cubic metres an hour, 1 inch ports, on the 2.5 inch thread of any FRP vessel from 6 to 12 inches across. What it does each cycle

At the hour you set, every so many days, it lifts the media bed with a backwash to the drain for the minutes you set, rinses to settle it, and returns to service. A button on the keypad starts a cycle by hand whenever the pressure across the vessel says the bed is loading. The settings survive a power cut for three days.

What it fits and needs

Every Runxin valve mounts on the 2.5 inch thread of an FRP vessel and needs three things inside the vessel: a 27 mm riser pipe cut to sit 1 to 2 mm below the vessel neck, a top distributor and a bottom strainer. Our 75 litre vessel ships with all three; a bare vessel from elsewhere needs them bought separately.

Vessels 6 to 12 inches across, the 45 and 75 litre sizes. A 1 inch drain line to a gully that can take the backwash flow (about 50 litres a minute for AFM in our 75 litre vessel), a plug point within 1.5 m for the 12 volt adapter, and inlet pressure of 1.5 to 6 bar.

Two vessels or more

An AFM vessel then a carbon vessel is the common borehole train. Two F67C1 valves interlock so they never backwash at the same time, and each backwashes with the other's filtered water.
