Compressed pure salt tablets, 99.5% sodium chloride, 25 kg, for the brine tank of any softener. Tablets dissolve evenly and leave no sludge; coarse or rock salt cakes into a bridge with a hollow underneath and the softener quietly stops regenerating. A household softener uses about one bag a month.

Each regeneration of a 75 litre resin bed takes 8 to 20 kg, set on the valve. Weekly regeneration is one to two bags a month. Keep the tank at least a third full and never let it run dry, or the next regeneration does nothing and the geyser starts scaling again.

Pool chlorinators, which want a different grade. And do not put table salt, rock salt or pool salt in a softener: the anti-caking agents and the impurities foul the resin and the injector.
